How to Choose a Pop-Up Spray Nozzle (Radius Table Inside)

The fastest way to ruin a lawn zone is the wrong nozzle – the decision method our engineers use, with the full radius table.

Direct answer: pick the nozzle color by radius: N4 blue = 1.0-1.4 m, N6 orange = 1.5-2.1 m, N8 red = 2.1-2.6 m, N10 green = 2.6-3.2 m, N12 yellow = 3.2-4.0 m, N15 = 4.0-4.7 m, N17 black = 4.7-5.5 m. Then space heads at 0.8-1.2 × radius.

Radius first, arc second

Measure the throw you need, pick the color that covers it, then dial the arc by hand (0°-360°). Never buy “a bigger nozzle” than the space needs – overshoot wets walls and roads.

Flow matters as much as radius

Each color also sets the flow. Mixing very different radii on one valve starves the far heads. The RainWell table gives flows at 1.5-3.0 bar for every arc; keep adjacent radii within one or two steps on a shared zone.

Strips are a special case

Medians and borders between paths do not need full circles: NQ strip nozzles throw rectangles from 1.2 × 2.0 m to 2.7 × 5.5 m, and the SQ rotary strips reach 12 m from the edge.

What nozzle do I need for a 3 m wide lawn?
N8 (2.1-2.6 m) or N10 (2.6-3.2 m) on both edges with head-to-head overlap covers 3 m cleanly.
Can I adjust radius with the screw only?
The screw trims roughly the last few percent – for a real radius change, swap to the correct color.
